ONCE UPON A TIME...

...there was a young Brisbane Mum who grew concerned about the content of popular women's magazines, as they seemed to be full of immorality, occult involvement, gossip and greed. Janet and her friends longed for a publication that was wholesome, uplifting, balanced, and relevant to their Christian beliefs ... a magazine that honoured God, and encouraged women to seek His will for their lives.

Sensing a nudge from God, Janet decided to do something about it! The first edition of Footprints magazine was launched with very little fanfare in January 1998 (see photo at right).

Over the years, Footprints has become so much more than a magazine . there is the free monthly Footprints FOCUS ezine (to sign up, simply send an email to editor@footprintsaustralia.com with "FOCUS" in the subject line); a Facebook page and the Footprints blog , as well as this website, to keep you up to date with all the latest news from Footprints. The first Footprints book, Clues to your Calling by editor Janet Camilleri, was launched in 2003; and to commemorate 10 years of publication, an anthology entitled DECADENCE: treat yourself to 10 years of Footprints was released in 2008.

FOOTPRINTS WOMEN'S MINISTRIES INC

In early 2010, the group of friends behind the magazine was registered as Footprints Women's Ministries Inc, a not-for-profit organisation. Our mission statement is "to encourage Australian women to seek and follow the Lord Jesus Christ in every area of our lives".

Footprints Women's Ministries Inc is run 100% by VOLUNTEERS. From our magazine editor to writers, photographers and other contributors, our web editor, cover models, designers, accountant . YEP, volunteers, every single one of 'em! They're using their time and talents purely to BLESS others. What makes Footprints unique is that this is NOT a business. It is purely and simply a non-denominational ministry to the women of Australia !

Over the past 13 years, women across the country have embraced the concept of a magazine that not only nourishes their spirit, but also sows into the lives of others.

SOWING GOOD SEED

Editor Janet Camilleri says, "Many Christians are shy and uncertain about how to spread the gospel message - but are happy to pass on a magazine like Footprints to their friends who are not yet Christians, confident that it will sow good seed!"

Many of Footprints' readers come from the outback, where the nearest church may be over two hour's drive away. "These women, as well as missionaries abroad, are hungry for the feminine encouragement and fellowship that Footprints brings," says Janet. "It's also great for young mums who are often distracted during church - they can dip into Footprints whenever they get a spare moment and receive a blessing."

FOLLOWING JESUS' FOOTPRINTS

The women behind Footprints Women's Ministries Inc believe they are following in the footprints of Jesus Himself. "Jesus used stories that people could relate to, in order to teach and encourage; and that is exactly what we are trying to do in the pages of Footprints ," says Janet. Over the years, Footprints has tackled a broad range of issues from a Christian perspective, from depression, infertility, grief and tragedy, to the benefits of "giving living", music, and laughter!
